Deadline for the application is 1 January 2017

Applications should be sent electronically and all documents 

(in Word or PDF files) should be attached to email : and include:

  • Application form incl. Name, Date of birth, contact information including address, phone number and email. Website link, if you have one.
  • Repertoire list for competition rounds. (Last date to change the repertoire is 1 February 2017)
  • 2 YouTube links prescreening required video performances. 
    1. One movement from a sonata by Haydn, Mozart, Clementi or Beethoven
    2. A free choice of virtuoso etude
  • Copy of Passport or equivalent proof of age and nationality
  • Certificate of studies, if the participant is not a Nordic citizen.
  • Official photograph in color( JPG file) suitable for publicity purposes.
  • Biography for publications min 250  words max 300
  • Copy of the payment of the applications fee

Application deadline: 1 January 2017
The competition is open to pianists who are between the ages of 18 years old
on 13 March and no more than 28 years old on 19 March 2017.
Competitors have to be one of the following:

  • Citizen or permanent resident of any of the Nordic countries - Finland,

            Sweden, Iceland, Norway and Denmark

  • Citizen of any other country and currently studying at a music institution

            in any of the Nordic countries

  • Full time Erasmus/Nordplus student (or any other official exchange program) in any of the Nordic countries

Prescreening video round

Every applicant has to send 2 YouTube links of video recording together with the application. In the video should be clearly seen hands and face of the competitor. Links of the prescreening video round of successful candidates will be published in the official competition website together with the presentation of each competitor.

​Competition Process

All phases of the Competition will be open to the public.
From the Video preselection round max 30 competitors will be selected to perform in Round One.

Max. 15 pianists will be selected by the Jury will be admitted through to Round Two.

6 competitors will be choosen to perform on the Round 3 - Pre-qualification Finals

In the pre-qualification Final, six competitors will perform an entire concerto with second piano accompaniment. The jury will, together with the conductor, choose three competitors to perform with orchestra in the Concerto Finals. The remaining three competitors will be awarded Finalist Diplomas.

Three competitors will be selected to go through to the Final Concerto Round accompanied by the Wermlands Opera Orchestra.

Last day of changing the repertore is 1 February 2017
The jury reserves the right to stop any performance that overruns the time limit.
All competitors must perform from memory.
Repertoire presented in the Preliminary Round can’t be repeated in either Round One or Round Two. Repertoire presented in the Round 1 can’t be repeated in the Round Two.
